Bruce Evans

Bruce Evans is senior vice president and chief customer officer for American Electric Power. Evans’ new role will have responsibility for Customer Services, Marketing and Distribution Services; Regulatory Services; Technology Business Development; and Infrastructure and Business Continuity.

Evans had been president and chief operating officer for AEP Texas since August 2015. As president, he was responsible for the company’s operations in south and west Texas.

Previously, Evans was vice president - Distribution Operations for AEP Texas, responsible for all electricity distribution system maintenance and operations activities for AEP facilities and customers in AEP Texas.

Prior to joining AEP, Evans served as vice president - Demand Management for Nexant Inc. in Houston, Texas. However, Evans spent the first 21 years of his career with West Texas Utilities, CPL, CSW and AEP. Additionally, he has held a number of leadership positions with major energy consulting firms, as well as Cirro Energy and CPS Energy in San Antonio, Texas.

After leaving AEP in 2000 as vice president - Energy Services, Evans served stints with Texas retail electric provider Cirro Energy, Deloitte Consulting and North Star Strategic Management Consulting.

From 1979 until 2000, Evans held a wide array of positions in the Central and South West system, including auditor and district manager for WTU, executive assistant to the COO at CSW, president of CSW Services, president of Central Power and Light Company and vice president of Customer Relations at CSW.

Evans holds a BBA in Finance from Hardin Simmons University in Abilene and MBA in Finance from Dallas Baptist University. He attended the Advanced Management Program at Harvard University.

Evans and his wife, Kim, have two children and two grandchildren.
