Dr. Susan Tierney of the Analysis Group recently developed a white paper (PDF) to provide her assessment of transmission grid needs and her thoughts on advancing the vision of an interstate electric highway system. Dr. Tierney is a former assistant secretary for policy at the U.S. Department of Energy and state public utility commissioner and is a well respected expert on energy and environmental policy, regulation and economics.

Specifically, this document provides a policy statement for the future of the electric industry and a means to achieve policy goals through appropriate treatment of transmission, especially extra high voltage (EHV) transmission. AEP believes that the subjects raised in this document are of critical importance to the viability of our nation's economy and to assist states in achieving their unique economic and environmental goals.
