Job Summary

Responsible for negotiating and writing contracts for services with outside vendors working in conjunction with business unit personnel. Write modifications to existing agreements and work with the Legal department as necessary to protect the interest of AEP. This position does not represent AEP as legal counsel but having a JD or Legal background is preferred. Demonstrates ability to work beyond routine assignments by solving transactions/problems of moderate complexity. Seeks out new opportunities and areas of learning which increase value to the organization. Understand each party’s interests in a negotiation and offer solutions to requested changes that meet those interests. Apply issue recognition and understand how issue recognition fits into the negotiation process. This position mainly involves writing and negotiating contracts so the person best fit for this role will enjoy an office environment, working collaboratively with co-workers with good written and verbal communication skills and excellent organization.

Job Description

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Understand the parameters of the boilerplate terms and offer solutions to requested changes for standard variances from terms.
  • Understanding the legal risk to requested modifications to standard terms and conditions and being able to communicate them to plant personnel and management in a clear concise manner.
  • Leads in the preparation and presentation of contracts and resolving contract related issues.
  • Write modifications to existing agreements using various models.
  • Lead the negotiation process through strategy development, issue recognition, and escalation of issues for moderately complex negotiations.
  • Demonstrate moderate experience in a range of subject categories relevant to areas of contract responsibility.
  • Manage vendor communications, complex contract negotiations and dispute resolutions of vendor/contractor issues.8. Assist the station in the development of competitive bid packages, bid evaluations, negotiations strategy, scope definition, notifications, etc. 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR NUCLEAR CONTRACT ANALYST:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related field of study. Juris Doctorate is preferred.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 4 years of related contract and/or supply chain experience or related experience in work activities and projects.
  • Excellent typing and basic computer skills required. 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR NUCLEAR CONTRACT ANALYST, SR:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related field of study. Juris Doctorate is preferred.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 4 years of related contract and/or supply chain experience or related experience in work activities and projects.  Juris Doctorate is preferred.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS (APPLIES TO ALL LEVELS):

  • These are additional expectations for the job and could include specific work experience, preemployment testing, expectations about travel, shift work, etc.
  • Follow policies, practices, standards, and rules of the company and those regulations and procedures required externally.
  • Apply problem-solving skills and use creativity in problem solving. 


Must establish and maintain a permanent residence within a 45-minute safe drive time to the D.C. Cook Nuclear Power Plant.

Salary Range posted from minimum to midpoint range:

  • $61,647 - $124,940

$61,647.00-77,057.50 USD
