March 8 marks International Women’s Day!
International Women’s Day recognizes women's achievements in various fields, including science, the arts, and community leadership, while advocating for gender equality. This year’s campaign theme is Accelerate Action.
American Electric Power’s Women at Work (W@W) employee resource group (ERG) recently hosted a conference inviting employees from across our entire footprint. The honorable Kathy Taylor, former Tulsa mayor, joined over 400 employees across 17 locations as the keynote speaker for this year’s conference. Her main topic was “Embracing Changes as a Catalyst for Personal and Professional Growth,” followed by a panel of AEP leaders sharing insights on navigating change.
“Today, we gather to inspire one another as leaders. This moment is not just about dialogue; it's about action and transformation as we unite to shape our future. We are here to create a space for connection, growth, and shared learning. Together, we form a powerful network that supports and uplifts each other. Embracing inclusion equips us to better serve our customers, our communities and one another,” said Judith Talavera, president of AEP Texas, during opening remarks.
“Being part of the W@W ERG means embracing growth together, empowering each other, and fostering a vibrant community where everyone’s contributions are celebrated. It's a privilege to share this journey with such amazing individuals,” shared Katrina Herndon, budget analyst staff at AEP and co-chair of W@W.
We’re proud of our W@W ERG for bringing together the talented employees of AEP for a morning of learning, growing and reflection. Happy International Women’s Day!
