Campbell Soup Supply Company will construct a new distribution center in Findlay, Ohio on one of AEP Ohio’s Certified Food & Beverage Sites—the Midwest I-75 Logistics Park.
Campbell Soup has begun site preparation for their 741,000-square-foot distribution center. When the center opens in the summer of 2018, it will employ 160 people and ship Campbell Soup products to supermarkets and individuals ordering online. The Findlay facility is part of a plan to develop a network of distribution centers across the country to better serve consumers in a changing marketplace, including through e-commerce.
AEP Ohio partnered with Austin Consulting to certify the shovel-ready site. The certification process involved an extensive due diligence review to ensure that the site met or exceeded food-processing requirements, including transportation, infrastructure and utilities.
It is easy to see why Campbell Soup chose Findlay, which is consistently ranked a top “Micropolitan Community” by Site Selection magazine. Named after Colonel James Findlay and Fort Findlay, which was established in the area during the war of 1812, the town has a mix of industry and agriculture and is home to several large companies, including 17 Fortune 500 companies, including the corporate headquarters of Marathon Petroleum Company and Cooper Tire & Rubber Company .
The AEP Ohio team was excited to be a part of a large team of partners led by Findlay-Hancock County Economic Development to secure the deal. In addition to site certification, AEP Ohio provided Campbell Soup with options for electric service, information about electrical deregulation in Ohio, energy efficiency programs, and an AEP Ohio economic development grant.
The economic development team also included the City of Findlay, Hancock County, Regional Growth Partnership, JobsOhio, Ohio Means Jobs, the Ohio Department of Transportation, Blanchard Valley Port Authority and KNG Energy.
We have seven additional sites certified for food processing available in the U.S. Route 30 Food Corridor in northeast Indiana and northern Ohio. Search our directory of certified sites or contact us today.
